Painting & Drawing

We apologise that we have had to suspend our regular print-making and painting and drawing classes for the time being.

Please do contact us, however, if you would like to discuss the possibility of booking a bespoke print-making session with Fran for yourself or your group.

Led by Rod Bailey, our painting and drawing classes have always been very popular.  As of Summer 2013 however, Rod has decided to take a well-deserved retirement from teaching regular weekly classes and at the moment we are also unable to resume our programme of one day weekend classes due to increased family and domestic needs.  Do keep a look out, however, as I’m sure he will hope to offer occasional one-off one-day and short courses again in the future when life settles down again.

Read on for more general information about PAINTING & DRAWING at Seymour Road Studios:

Rod’s initial training was in Graphic Design and he went on to make his living largely from teaching art in comprehensive schools and later in FE colleges and independently, all the while continuing to develop his own work and skills as an artist.

Rod Bailey: Reclining Male Figure: Acrylics

Bringing his own particular way of seeing to his work, Rod specialises in observational themes largely using acrylic paint as his medium.

After years of delivering a wide range of independent and bespoke workshops to many clients and organisations, in 2009 Rod and Fran completed building and fitting of their new 2D studio and were able to change their main focus to providing art classes together at Seymour Road Studios.

Rod Bailey: Pinder's Pond: AcrylicsRod’s painting and drawing classes encompass technical skill-building, exploration of tone andcolour, observational studies in studio and garden, as well as work from source materials and some creative paint, collage and design techniques.  Students will find a relaxed and friendly environment where classes welcome complete beginners as well as supporting the development and progress of more advanced students at their own pace.
