One-day & Weekend Classes

WEEKEND WORKSHOPS coming soon for 2017:

The ever-popular cane topper workshops will largely be using pinching and modelling techniques to produce your own unique terracotta toppers – not just a fun addition to your garden but a great way to protect your eyes from one of the most common gardening injuries.

DATES: choose Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th July
PRICE: £30 for a half day
TIMES: 10am-12.30pm

NB if the cane topper workshops have as much interest as last year, we may offer an additional half day workshop on one or both afternoons, so please let me know if those times would also be possible for you when you get in touch!

Get in touch
via our contact form if you would like to book or have any

NB If you are unable to join us but would like to have the opportunity to do this workshop, do remember that we can run it again at a date to suit you if you would like to bring your own group of friends, family or colleagues for a fun session!  Check out our tailor-made workshops page or get in touch to discuss with me if you would like to know more.

I’m afraid that the pre-planned programme of one day group classes has largely had to be interrupted due to prolonged increased family health needs at this time.

In the meantime I can still offer pottery sessions on a one-off private group or one-to-one basis - don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to know more or to discuss the possibility of booking a tailor-made session for yourself or your group.

I do plan to offer more programmed one-day group classes in pottery and print-making again when things settle down a bit for us –  I do hope you will bear with us and keep looking out for our classes.

If you would like an idea of the kind of classes that are usually available, please follow this link to our past one-day and weekend classes; thank you.

If you want to be among the first to know when we offer new classes, do join our mailing list by placing a request to join via our contact form

For the perfect present for someone special you can buy a gift voucher for a place on any one of our courses - contact us to find out more!

We also provide tailor made group and individual art workshops for a wide variety of events and client groups.  Please contact us to chat about what you have in mind.

You might also enjoy our regular weekly classes

For more information see below – please don’t hesitate contact us if you still have any unanswered questions.

Sorry you missed these (below):

22nd June: PRINT-MAKING: Drypoint day: Drypoint is one of the intaglio print-making techniques and can give some lovely effects quite similar to etching but with a softer darker line as the ink is taken from the burr created when mark-making on the plate rather than from the engraved line itself.

8th & 9th June:  POTTERY: Slip-decoration: we will make relatively simple forms such as tiles and dishes so that we can enjoy focusing on some of the decorative slip techniques such as paper resist, sgraffitto, sponge stamping, marbling, inlay, feathering (I can’t promise we’ll cover them all in a day though!).  Decorative slips are simply a mixture of clay with colouring oxides or stains mixed with enough water to reach a creamy consistency suitable for applying to leather hard clay.

8th June: SKETCHING DAY: Around the house: this day will be partially weather dependent – if the weather is dry we will take our sketching out into the garden for at least part of the day.  There we will sketch views of the built environment in and beyond the garden.  If the weather is wet we will retreat indoors where we will sketch interiors throughout the ground floor of the house.

27th April: MIXED MEDIA: a playful exploration of still life subjects: a day for letting your creativity lead the way, exploring a variety of paint and collage techniques in combination to describe some familiar still life subjects such as fruit, flowers and domestic objects.

27th & 28 April: POTTERY: Coil building (garden terracotta): coiling is a wonderfully versatile technique allowing the potter’s inventiveness free rein!  Those who come on both days will have the opportunity to develop and refine their work further as well as to explore the making of a wider variety of shapes.
